Groundhogs day

Groundhog Day is a popular holiday celebrated in the United States and Canada on February 2nd. On this day, people observe whether or not a groundhog (also known as a woodchuck) emerges from its burrow and sees its shadow. If the groundhog sees its shadow, it is believed to predict six more weeks of winter weather.

If it does not see its shadow, spring is thought to be just around the corner. It is a lighthearted and fun holiday, but its accuracy as a predictor of weather is not scientifically proven.
